What Happens During Professional Termite Treatment?

There is no single treatment plan for every property. The type of termite, visible evidence, construction conditions, and treatment history affect the recommendation.

OUR PRIMARY SOIL-TREATMENT APPROACH

Termidor® Perimeter Termite Treatment

Rhino Exterminating commonly uses Termidor-based soil treatment for subterranean termite concerns. The objective is to establish a continuous treated zone in the soil alongside the foundation—sometimes described as a protective “moat”—and address confirmed problem areas as appropriate.

Why Termidor works differently

Termidor products use fipronil, a non-repellent active ingredient. According to manufacturer BASF, subterranean termites may move through treated soil without avoiding it. Exposed termites can also transfer the active ingredient to nestmates through their normal contact and social behavior. BASF calls this the Transfer Effect.

This explains the treatment concept, not an instant kill or a guarantee that every infestation is eliminated. Results depend on the property, application, species, conditions and ongoing monitoring.

01 · Inspect the homeReview signs of termite activity, accessible foundation areas, past treatments and property conditions.
02 · Treat the perimeterApply the specified Termidor formulation to eligible soil along the foundation, using approved trenching, rodding or drilling methods where needed.
03 · Address identified activityPerform additional localized treatments at verified termite activity areas when indicated and permitted by the product label.
04 · Document the serviceExplain treatment scope and provide applicable service documentation and written warranty terms.

Application volume, concentration, treatment depth and methods depend on the exact Termidor product label, construction and site conditions, and Arizona requirements. Treatments are performed by the licensed service provider, Rhino Exterminating (AZ #9665). No chemical barrier can be described as guaranteed termite-proof. Learn about Termidor from BASF ↗

1. Discuss the evidence and property history

Share photos of mud tubes, winged insects, or damaged wood. Mention past termite treatments, construction additions, leaks, or an inspection report if available.

2. Inspection and identification

A qualified pest-management professional assesses accessible areas and looks for evidence that helps determine the appropriate approach. Inspection scope varies by property and service requested.

3. Review treatment options

Depending on the assessment, a professional may discuss soil-applied treatments, baiting systems, or other labeled methods. Trenching, drilling, and access requirements depend on the structure and proposed plan. Only the provider can specify what is appropriate.

4. Get the price and terms in writing

Ask what areas are included, what preparation is needed, what follow-up is planned, and whether any warranty covers future activity or retreatment. Do not assume a particular warranty period applies.

5. Follow the treatment instructions

Follow the licensed applicator’s directions regarding treated areas, people, pets, and any re-entry timing. Save the service documentation for your records.

Ask what treatment makes sense for your home, rather than buying a one-size-fits-all package.
